    Emmanuel Carrère, född 9 december i Paris, är en franskförfattare, manusförfattare och regissör.

    Han har blivit omtalad bland annat för boken "Himmelriket" - en spekulativ roman om den tidiga kristendomens historia - som blev en stor succé i Frankrike. Carrère upplevde en omvändelse och var under några år präglad av en intensiv kristen tro som han senare övergav. Boken beskriver denna inre resa samt bearbetar Nya testamentets texter - nu som en tvivlande agnostiker.[9]

    Born in , Eric-Emmanuel Schmitt attended the Ecole Normale Supérieure, France's leading humanities university, and was awarded the country's most prestigious teaching certificate and a doctorate in Philosophy.

    Initially known to the public for his works for the stage, he shot to fame with Don Juan on Trial first performed in France in and afterwards produced by the Royal Shakespeare Company.     Emanuel von Geibel (17 October &#;&#; 6 April ) was a German poet and playwright.

    Life

    Geibel was born at Lübeck, the son of a pastor. He was originally intended for his father's profession and studied at Bonn and Berlin, but his real interests lay not in theology but in classical and romance philology. In he accepted a tutorship at Athens, where he remained until In the same year he published, in conjunction with his friend Ernst Curtius, a volume of translations from Greek. His first poems were published in a volume entitled Zeitstimmen in In he entered the service of Frederick William IV, the king of Prussia, with an annual stipend of thalers; beneath whom he produced König Roderich (), a tragedy, König Sigurds Brautfahrt (), an epic, and Juniuslieder (), lyrics in a more spirited and manlier style than his early poems.
